Central Ohio Community Land Trust (COCLT) was established in 2018 as a subsidiary of Central Ohio Community Improvement Corporation (COCIC) and in partnership with the City of Columbus and Franklin County to promote affordable housing in Franklin County. COCLT is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to offer permanently affordable housing in underserved areas that is fair and inclusive to everyone.
COCLT works with developers to provide single site, residential, new construction homes on currently owned Land Bank lots in areas with high housing costs. COCLT holds the land in perpetuity and provides homes to income eligible buyers, earning up to 120% of HUD area median income, through a 99-year land lease.
COCLT strives to build mixed income neighborhoods by providing project assistance to make homes affordable creating opportunities for homebuyers today and tomorrow. As a result of these efforts, COCLT is able to provide a lower purchase price to make homes affordable because the homebuyer owns the structure and COCLT owns the land.
